Estevan Munoz-Howard, Executive Director

Estevan Munoz-Howard has been with YMI since April of 2008 and is looking forward to a challenging and fruitful tenure with the organization. Although he is no technological wizard, he has always been interested in media and is looking forward to improving his technical skills alongside YMI youth. Estevan has long known that his future would involve civic engagement and working with young people, and YMI offers a perfect blend of both. He is a social capital enthusiast and talks about the concept with anyone who will listen.
Estevan graduated from the University of Puget Sound in 2004 with a BA in Political Theory. It was during one of his political science classes at UPS that he first became interested in the concept of social capital and it was then that he realized his professional calling lay in the nonprofit sector. Since graduating from UPS, he has worked with Child Welfare Services in Tacoma, taught English in Japan, managed an ecolodge in Ecuador and worked as a counselor with Youthcare in Seattle. After spending several years on the move, Estevan is finally settled in Seattle with his wife, Elisha, and is happy to be home once again.

Huyen Nguyen, Intern
Huyen Nguyen is a Junior attending Evergreen T.E.C. Highschool. Huyen has been associated with YMI since summer of 2007. She recently began interning in winter of 2009. Since Estevan is not a “tecnological wizard”, Huyen came along to save the day. Like the super hero she is she copies and pastes like a god on Photoshop and trims and filters video clips on Final Cut like its nobodys business. WERD!
Alexander Meas, Blogger/Photographer
Alexander Meas is currently a senior at Evergreen High School. He has a passion for life that he portrays in his photos. His poetic senses and symbolic traits give his perspective life. Alex has been finding his own style and voice through media, which he has used to influence the people around him. He has been working for YMI since 2007, starting as a Youth Out Loud participant. You can find him at Youngstown, Evergreen, the park, or any random place taking snapshots of people, nature, the things he loves, and the things that we forgot are magical.
